THE MESSAGE TRUST
Community Grocery

Millions of families are facing not knowing where the next meal is coming from, so the Message Community Grocery is here the help.

Step inside a grocery and you’ll find a range of food options fresh from local supermarkets, meaning our members can come and shop for their whole family at the fraction of the cost of a supermarket, whilst also saving hundreds of tonnes of food being wasted each year.

But it’s not just about the food. In each store you’ll also find a range of free support on offer to members. Support like job clubs, money management support, healthy cooking classes, exploring Christianity courses and much more.

The Community Grocery is being run by The Message Trust in partnership with local churches in some of the most deprived areas of the UK.

Families can join the grocery for £5 annual membership which gives them access to three shops per week at £3.50 per shop as well as free access for themselves and their families to a number of support courses.

The first grocery was launched in September 2020 and we now have 14 groceries around the U.K. with over 13,000 members, all representing a family and with more in the pipeline.

Through the work of the grocery, we have seen great engagement in the support courses offered and many hundreds making decisions for Christ and joining the local church. It really has been remarkable to see.
