Grace Church Stirchley

Festival Trails

The Nativity and Easter trails are long standing events in the Stirchley Community. The events are designed so that families from across our community can engage with the key stories around these Christian festivals. They involve interactive storytelling, innovative craft activities and tasty food and drink to welcome participants. The events are run by Grace Church Stirchley in local community spaces close to the festivals they represent.

Grace Church Stirchley is an independent church in Stirchley, South Birmingham. It is a diverse community of Jesus followers with a desire to show love to our community and be a blessing in Jesus’ name. Though our events are organised by staff members, the majority of the work is done by the members of the church volunteering their free time.

The Festival Trails have been running for around 7 years and have developed from a small event at Christmas (The Nativity Trail) to include an Easter trail in a local park. The events have always included elements of hospitality, storytelling and crafts, but in recent years as popularity has increased we have sought to improve both the size of the event and the quality of resource we are able to offer.

In 2024/25 we are aiming for 500 guests across the Nativity and Easter Trails with each guest going away with a quality craft activity and a deeper understanding of the biblical stories of Jesus’ birth, death and resurrection.

We have always sought to be a church with an outward vision: We believe that as followers of Jesus it is essential for us follow his teaching to “love your neighbour as yourself”. This means we seek to focus on 2 things for our events. Firstly that we show love in the way we welcome and provide quality activities for our community. Because love is first and foremost a verb, and is something that is primarily communicated through actions rather than words, we seek to be hospitable and provide a really fun time for our guests.

Secondly, it means that we want to share the “Good News” in ways that are relevant and understandable to our community – therefore we seek to communicate some key truths of our faith through these events, in the hope that others might understand and so find “Life to the full”.
