The Parish Trust is a registered charity based in Trethomas, Caerphilly. The charity was established in 2019 and is founded on Christian principles.

There are many projects that come under The Parish Trust, one being ‘The CARE Project’.

The CARE Project helps alleviate food poverty by providing care packages of food and non-food essentials to users that are struggling financially, elderly or vulnerable individuals who are unable to leave their homes to purchase food from the shops. The CARE Project also offers a prescription collection service, a listening ear and pastoral care.

The Parish Trust initially set up The CARE Project to support those in need within the parish, of food parcels, prescription collections and pastoral services with the aim of investing in the local community through projects and support.

The CARE Project is now our biggest initiative. Our food parcel service is run with the help of many wonderful volunteers who give up their own time to help others. They help put food parcels together, drive deliveries or assist, collect food donations, sometimes late in the evenings or sort through the food donations that we receive here at the food hub.

The Parish Trust works within some of the most deprived areas in Wales and in 2022 alone, nearly 5000 people received a food parcel from The CARE Project, this was a total of 1678 food parcels delivered to the local area that we cover. We receive an incredible amount of food donations from the general public, local businesses, supermarkets and other suppliers. Without this support, we wouldn’t be able to offer our services.

Since 2020 the charity has grown significantly and runs many other projects. It offers services to those of all ages from a community choir, toddler, children and youth groups, wellbeing courses and support groups. 4000+ people impacted from our other projects throughout 2022. All projects feed into one another, i.e.volunteering opportunities. Over 7000+ hours were given by volunteers in 2022. Our volunteers are making a direct and positive impact to the community whilst building friendships, communicating and building their confidence.
