The Table
The Table is our volunteer run community cafe.
Open Monday to Friday 9.30am to 2.30pm through the year, we are a church run social enterprise supporting numerous activities that take place each month including a lunch club, Men’s hub and youth club.
We aim for high quality, ethically sourced yet affordable food and drink serving and supporting our community. All our milk and flour is organic and we sell breakfasts, home made cakes, locally roasted barista coffees and family friendly lunches served with a warm welcome. With free high-speed internet, we also function as a digital health hub.
In 2016 we recognised that our current building could not provide for the needs of our local community. Following surveys and working with the local VCS, we began to develop a vision to provide for those needs, especially for lonely, isolated and elderly people as well as families with young children. At its heart was a new community café that would become a hub for wider support and services. After 7 years in the planning and a miraculous effort fundraising, the new community annexe and café was completed and the community café opened in November 2024.
We are not just another café, we are staffed by volunteers giving freely of their time who wish to bless our community and create a friendly, warm and welcoming atmosphere for everyone. The name (The Table) comes from Psalm 23 where The Lord prepares a table to bless His people.

With support from Westhill, we are being enabled to grow and develop our lunch club (Meet & Eat) and ensure it is accessible to everyone. Over the years it has blessed hundreds of people and although it varies in number, at its largest can see over fifty guests come and enjoy a home cooked hot meal with others.
The café is overseen by a management committee and Nadine our café manager ensures everything runs smoothly on a day to day basis. Averaging 700 people a month in the first few months the coffee has proven incredibly popular. More importantly our team of over 30 volunteers from teenagers and unemployed people looking for work to people in their 80’s and with disabilities, a huge camaraderie has developed as we have learned new skills in the kitchen and as baristas. Many have been given a new lease of life, especially those who have in the past felt they have nothing to offer or are unable to work due to health or mental health issues. Most importantly, we have seen a number of lonely and isolated people find community in the café as they pop in for a coffee and stay for friendship.
