Liberty Tea Rooms and Community Hub
Men's Group
Liberty Hub’s Monday Night Men’s Bible Study & Support Group provides a safe, faith-centred space where men experiencing loneliness, financial hardship, relationship pressures, or spiritual disconnection can explore Scripture, build friendships, and receive pastoral support.
Led by trained Christian leaders, the group combines accessible Bible teaching with open conversation, prayer, and peer encouragement, helping participants strengthen resilience, rediscover faith, and navigate life’s challenges. The group has grown from Liberty’s trusted community work and is currently run entirely by volunteers. Support from the Westhill Endowment ensures this welcoming weekly space remains accessible to all men who need it.
The Monday Night Men’s Bible Study & Support Group is a weekly gathering hosted at Liberty Tea Rooms & Community Hub in Hemel Hempstead. The group provides a welcoming and faith-centred environment where men can explore the Christian faith, build supportive relationships, and receive pastoral encouragement.
Many of the men who attend are experiencing significant pressures in their lives, including loneliness, financial hardship, relationship challenges, declining mental wellbeing, or a sense of spiritual disconnection. The group offers a safe space where they can speak openly, reflect on Scripture together, and find strength through shared faith and community.
The group emerged in response to a consistent need we were observing across Liberty’s wider work. Through conversations in the tearoom, wellbeing activities and community engagement, many men expressed that they lacked a place where they could talk honestly about life, faith and personal struggles. In response, we created a weekly gathering that combines accessible Bible teaching with open conversation, prayer and peer support.
Each session explores themes such as identity, resilience, discipleship and God’s love, helping participants reflect on how faith can shape their everyday lives. The group is led by trained Christian leaders from local churches and benefits from Liberty Hub’s wider network of partnerships. This enables us to provide pastoral guidance and, where appropriate, signpost participants to additional support or local church communities.
As the group grows, we are seeing encouraging outcomes: men forming meaningful friendships, rediscovering faith, growing in confidence and finding renewed strength to face personal challenges. The project has so far been sustained entirely through volunteer leadership and the generosity of our community. Support from the Westhill Endowment would enable us to continue providing this welcoming weekly space by covering essential costs. These modest but vital resources ensure the group remains accessible to all men, particularly those who may be financially vulnerable, and help create a warm and dignified environment where faith, friendship and hope can flourish.
