The Faith Encounter Project
Training and Education

The Faith Encounter Project is a small independent organisation (registered charity 1124521) set up to promote religious harmony and social cohesion for the benefit of the public.

We are a multi-faith group working to develop mutual respect and understanding between people of all faiths and none in the West Midlands. We have pioneered the development of a Faith Guiding Course enabling faith practitioners to lead professional tours of their places of worship.

We are a charity that works in partnership with the West Midlands Faiths Forum and Birmingham SACRE to offer quality visits to places of worship of all faiths, for school groups. We also offer training programmes and workshops in faith literacy. These can be tailor made for professional bodies and companies, schools, colleges and community groups.

Our aims are as follows:

1. Offering a course in Faith Guiding to train Guides of all faiths to receive visitors with confidence and openness at their places of worship in the West Midlands.

2. Facilitating educational visits and programmes of faith literacy for young people and adults, mainly from the region, to promote respect and mutual understanding between people of all faiths and none.

The Birmingham Faith Encounter Project is managed by a multi faith Steering Group composed of experienced people of six different faiths and chaired by Mr Osman Sheikh.
