Dear God...
“Hardly anyone can ever find God because God is right at the end of your mind after all the background thoughts are gone.”

Southampton City Mission (CIO)
Schools Work Development Project

Southampton City Mission have been delivering top quality RE, SMSC, and PSHE input in educational contexts for over 25 years, and have an excellent track record of working flexibly with schools to serve their needs, whether that might be through a short Assembly or Collective Worship on any one of a myriad of topics, leading a whole year group through bespoke, interactive sessions exploring part of the Christian faith, facilitating an immersive, self-led experience on prayer and reflection, or focussed workshops supporting pupils as they transition from Primary to Secondary education.

Religious Education might not be everyone’s favourite subject, but we think it is one of the most interesting and important parts of the school curriculum! That’s because what we choose to believe about ourselves, those around us, and the world at large, will significantly impact our whole lives, and determine the type of person we become.

While our "Question of Faith" sessions recognise that RE is not like any other subject, the range of fun, dynamic activities (including games, stories, quizzes, illusions, drama, puzzles, writing, music, drawing, craft, etc.) which we use to give pupils an opportunity to explore together what real, live Christians believe about a particular aspect of their faith, also link seamlessly to key parts of the core curriculum.

Many schools struggle to meet the legal requirements for RE, and we have experienced that by offering free 'expert' input and customised support through our "Question of Faith" programme, we are enabling pupils across a vast breadth of different socio-economic backgrounds to develop their own coherent understanding of spiritual formation, alongside baseline values and principles for living life to the full. Our vision is for every child in Southampton and the surrounding region to be able to access a "Question of Faith" day each year during their Primary academic attendance and beyond.
