Dear God...
“Hardly anyone can ever find God because God is right at the end of your mind after all the background thoughts are gone.”

Small Footsteps 2017
What we achieved:

Small Footsteps initial overall aims in running the two summer schools were to:
  • Inspire youngsters with a love of and for the natural environment
  • Demonstrate how all faiths agree on the need to look after the planet
  • Demonstrate how different faiths can work to together.
  • Bring to faith leaders’ attention the need to work together on care for the planet.
  • Work to a professionally informed, high quality standard
In total over 50 young people attended the two workshops drawn from the main faith groups in Birmingham.

We felt that the concept of enabling young people to connect the environment and faith through practical, outdoor, activities worked well.  The activities we are used appear to appeal more to young people in the 8 -12 year old age range than older age groups.

We found that considerable planning and preparation is needed to run a five day summer school, including: finding suitable venues, developing the activity programme, building a delivery team and ensuring that all safe guarding and health and safety requirements are met

We hope that our resource pack and web based resources will make it easier for other groups to run Small Footsteps events and select activities that best suit their particular needs.

See our website for progress or email Footsteps for information.
