Daughters of Eve

Daughters Of Eve – Breaking Bread and Barriers is an initiative which encourages interfaith dialogue and awareness by uniting women of a variety of faiths in conversation over food and art based activities.

This project will bring you together with local women from a variety of faith groups, e.g. Muslim, Hindu, Catholic, Christian, Jewish, Sikh and Buddhist to develop religious and cultural interaction and understanding.

We will invite you to the Carlisle Business Centre where you will share a meal with the other women, here you can begin talking to each other and interact on common issues around faith and family.

We will then plan and deliver a collection of six trips across the city and region to visit each of the respective local faith institutions, there will be a ‘breaking of bread’ and a collection of appropriate activities ranging from art, song, dance, spoken word and discussion.

As part of the practice of breaking bread we will encourage everyone to bring an item of food that represents them and their religion to share with the group.

After these trips we will invite everyone to meet in one location to hold a one day celebration of religion and women which will offer a shared love of community and of faith through food, art, song, dance, spoken word and discussion.
