Dear God...
“The ocean is like God and raindrops are the religion. When they fall into the ocean they become one.”

Our Project:

Extending the Learning Experience

Southwark Cathedral Education Centre aims to bring learning to life.  Using the Cathedral as an inspirational resource, we provide curriculum-linked trails and workshops for children and young people that are exciting, engaging and experiential.

Although we offer activities that support a wide range of curriculum areas, Religious Education is at the forefront of our service and our RE programme assists teachers in the delivery of locally agreed syllabuses.  For some time, we have considered expanding our offer by providing online resources for teachers and students whilst being mindful that it is the actual visit, their relationship with our staff and their encounter with the Cathedral itself that is at the heart of what we offer.

However, we strive to make the Cathedral accessible to all young people, and recognise that online resources and digital materials can be a useful way of engaging them.

Our project aims to enhance the visit made not only by schools but will be available to all, enabling all young people to access the rich resources Cathedrals have to offer. This new project is to build a bank of online and digital RE materials for teachers and students to support learning about and from Christian places of worship
